Rev Linda McLaren, Jasper United Church, writes:

“I was talking with the lead for Team Rubicon Jasper and had asked how he and his team were doing. He responded that at the end of every day they gather with mental health providers and share their tears and their joys of the day. It helps them process this tender work that they are offering to people who have lost so much.” Click here for more information on the team’s work in Jasper.

Rev Linda offered the team this prayer: “We hold you and the many volunteers with Rubicon in our prayers. May the weight and sorrow of your work be lifted from you at the end of your day and may peace be the blanket that holds you at night so that you might be awakened in the joy of the new day.”

“Rob replied to give me thanks for my prayer, sharing how much it touched him and that he was going to ask that it be read that evening when the team met. I gave thanks that God can use our words to offer healing.

Their offerings are such tender works. And so I was wondering if you might offer prayers for this team. They are currently in Jasper until September 20th. I do hope their time gets extended as there are many on the waitlist and their time needs to be approved by the municipality before they can attend to those on the waitlist.”

Northern Spirit, please join in prayers this Sunday and beyond for Team Rubicon, for all first and long- term responders, for the community of Jasper and all in the area affected by the devastating wildfire, and the land and waters.
