The Archives of The United Church of Canada in Alberta consists of over 500 linear metres of records, dating from the 1830’s to the present. The Archives acquires, preserves and makes available the archival records created, accumulated, and/or maintained by Chinook Winds Region and Northern Spirit Region, its Communities of Faith, and the related church groups, associations, educational institutions, and hospitals operated therein. The Archives also acquires personal papers and manuscripts of individuals (clergy and church workers) associated with the two Regions.

The processed holdings of the United Church Archives in Alberta are accessible through the Sandra Thomson Reading Room at the Provincial Archives of Alberta. There is no fee to access the holdings of the Conference Archives, however copying and photo reproduction charges apply.
The PAA Reference Staff may assist researchers with United Church reference requests during regular business hours. They will do a preliminary search of relevant material free of charge, but they have set fees for research services for anyone who is unable to come in person to do their own research, or for extensive research beyond the preliminary search.
- Baptism records: closed for 100 years
- Marriage records: closed for 100 years
- Burial records: closed for 20 years
However, any person named in a United Church baptism, marriage, or burial register is entitled to receive a copy of his or her own record. The copy is provided by verbatim transcript, certified as a true copy of the original entry, and is ordered through the Provincial Archives of Alberta (PAA) Reference Desk and Archives Service Centre. *There is no retrieval of archival material from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm and from 3:30 pm onwards.
