Sports: Beyond the Birth Certificate

Join us for an open and respectful conversation about transgender in sports. Sports: Beyond the Birth Certificate will explore the realities, challenges, and misconceptions surrounding trans athletes, looking beyond headlines and assumptions to discuss identity, participation, fairness, belonging, and what inclusion can look like in sport today.

Kirk Centre and Robertson-WEsley United Church are aprntered to bring you “Spill the T featuring the Human Library, a series of events about topics within the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community. The first half of the event will be a presentation by speakers for the event topic. The second half of the event is the Human Library portion where you can get a more personal connection with the presenters and topic. Here is a more detailed breakdown of what a Spill the T event looks like:

6:00pm – Doors Open

6:30pm – Presentations Begin! The first half of this event will be a guided presentation – or more of an interview – by an MC and the Presenters.

7:30pm – Snack Break!

7:40pm – The Human Library Portion

This is your time to explore and connect with the presenters! The presenters who spoke before, as well as a few new speakers, will be at the tables. Pick the table with the topic you are most curious about and start up a conversation! This is your chance to ask the questions you never had the right chance to ask. Learn about the topic from the people who know it best! You can feel free to go to different tables when you would like to learn about a different topic too!
