Today’s Nominations Spotlight is on our support committees. There are two committees in our Region who work to support, connect, and celebrate the different forms of leadership in our church:
the Ministry Personnel Support Committee,
and the Lay Leadership Support Committee.

Leadership Support Committees in Northern Spirit
Are you:
- Interested in different forms of ministry, church, and worship leadership?
- Passionate about supporting the education, health, joy, and excellence of ministers and lay leaders?
- Keen to learn more about different ways people can offer their gifts and serve their communities?
- Eager to connect with the many passionate people offering leadership across our geographically vast Region?

Ministry Personnel Support Committee
The Ministry Personnel Support Committee supports Northern Spirit ministry personnel in these ways:
The Ministry Personnel Support Committee oversees and coordinates the Regional Council’s responsibility to encourage and support Ministry Personnel towards health, joy and excellence in ministry practice, including: caring for active and retired Ministry Personnel; providing ongoing training and connection opportunities for Ministry Personnel; and supporting networks and clusters related to the above work.
The Ministry Personnel Support Committee is comprised of up to five members, with a balance of Order of Ministry and Lay members, appointed for 2-year terms with the opportunity to renew.
The Ministry Personnel Support committee meets monthly, currently on the second Thursday of the month, at 1 p.m. Mountain Time. Meeting times are worked out together by committee members. The time commitment for members of this committee is approximately 2.5 hours a month, including time to review meeting documents, and considering that brief discussions can sometimes take place over email.
There are currently 2 vacancies on the Ministry Personnel Support Committee, open to both Lay or Ministry members.

Lay Leadership Support Committee
The Lay Leadership Support Committee supports Northern Spirit lay leadership in these ways:
This Committee oversees and coordinates the Regional Council’s responsibility to provide ongoing leadership training for lay people, including: recommending action on licensing of Licensed Lay Worship Leaders and providing ongoing support and oversight; training and assessment of Sacraments Elders, and recommending action on licensing and re-licensing; and supporting networks and clusters that are established related to the above work.
The Lay Leadership Support Committee is comprised of up to five members, appointed for 2-year terms with the opportunity to renew. You do not have to be a Licensed Lay Worship Leader to sit on this committee, and both lay people and ministry personnel are welcome.
The Lay Leadership Support committee meets monthly, currently on the first Wednesday of the month, at 5:30 p.m. Mountain Time. Meeting times are worked out together by committee members. The time commitment for members of this committee is approximately 2 hours a month, including time to review meeting documents, and considering that brief discussions can sometimes take place over email.
There is currently 1 vacancy on the Lay Leadership Support Committee, open to both Lay or Ministry members.
