The Community of Faith Support Committee supports Northern Spirit congregations in these ways:
This Committee coordinates the Regional Council’s responsibility to support Communities of Faith in their life and work, including through providing oversight of Covenants; connecting communities with appropriate resources and program facilitators as needed; supporting them in structural changes, i.e., amalgamations, realignments and/or disbanding, and making recommendations to the Regional Council Executive; supporting new ministries; ensuring compliance with all United Church and government requirements; and supporting networks and clusters related to the above.
The Communities of Faith Support Committee is comprised of up to six members, with a balance of Order of Ministry and Lay members, appointed for a 1-year term, with the opportunity to renew each term.
The Community of Faith Support committee meets monthly, currently on the third Thursday of the month, at 10:00 a.m.. Meeting times are worked out together by committee members. The time commitment for members of this committee is approximately 3.5 hours a month, including time to review meeting documents, and considering that discussions can sometimes take place over email.
There are currently 2 vacancies on the Community of Faith Support Committee, open to both Lay or Ministry members. Do you feel called to this opportunity? If you’re new to Regional work, and/ or Pastoral Relations work, don’t worry- committee members and staff can help introduce you to it.
All applications will be considered by the Nominations Committee and Supporting Staff. If you have any questions prior to or after sending in the form, please contact the Regional office and we will connect you with someone with experience in this area of the Regional Council’s ministry: 780.435.3995 or northernspirit@united-church.ca
