Spill the T is a series of events about topics within the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community. The first half of the event will be story sharing by speakers focused on the event topic, including extensive audience Q & A. The second half of the event is the Human Library portion where you can get a more personal connection with the presenters and topic, while enjoying food and small group conversation around tables.
This month, Spill the T is taking on a conversation that may not be easy — but we believe it is an important one to have.
Joining us is a Constable with the EPS Hate Crimes Unit who is also a member of the queer community, Landon Turlock with the City of Edmonton along with Table Talkers Stephen (Organization for Prevention of Violence) and Jay (Stop Hate AB). Together, we’ll talk about hate crimes, available resources, and the complex relationship between policing and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
**A note to our community: Yes, we have a presenter from the Edmonton Police Service joining the discussion virtually. We understand that police involvement may be uncomfortable for some. We respect those feelings and experiences. We hope that by including this presenter virtually, we can foster open discussions in a safe space together, and hopefully begin building some bridges.
🏳️🌈 Come as you are. Bring your questions and your willingness to listen.
As with all Spill The T events, this is
– all ages and all identities friendly,
– free to attend;
– ASL interpretation will be provided, and
– the building is accessible with bathrooms and a lift for mobility needs.
