SUMMARY:CCS Friday - An Ecology of Faith Formation
DESCRIPTION:Join the Centre for Christian Studies (CCS) on Friday\, March 15 (noon Central\, 1pm Eastern\, 11am Mountain\, 10am Pacific\, 2pm Atlantic) for an online conversation about the eco-system of faith formation in congregations. Our special guest will be UCC Growth Animator Greg Smith-Young. \nWithin creation\, ecosystems form as different and diverse creatures (living and non-living) interact together. Each part plays a vital role in making the whole. Ecosystems are about interdependence and integration. What can happen when we bring an “ecosystem” way of thinking into the faith formation work of congregations? Join us as we imagine the possibilities. \nGreg Smith-Young (he/him) is a Growth Animator with the United Church of Canada. He serves alongside existing and newly-forming communities of faith in southwest Ontario\, helping them to share in what Jesus is already doing in their places: inviting\, welcoming\, engaging\, forming disciples\, and sending to share in God’s Presence. \nCCS Fridays are free. SUMMARY:Edmonton‛s 44th Annual Good Friday Outdoor Way of the Cross “ Journeying Home"
DESCRIPTION:Good Friday\, March 29\, 2024\, 10 a.m. (99 Street and 107 Avenue\, Edmonton AB) \nThe 44th annual Outdoor Way of the Cross invites people to think about the relevance and importance of the Gospel message in our world today. This year’s theme\, “Journeying Home\,” is based on Isaiah 58:6-7: “Is not this the fast that I choose. . .to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless into your house.” \nThe walk will once again take place in person\, along the streets of Edmonton’s inner city. It will include six stations\, and each station will offer a reflection on an aspect of the overall theme that highlights both a challenge and a source of hope\, woven together with music. \nPeople of all faith traditions are welcome. The 1.5-kilometre walk is reasonable for most ages and levels of fitness and ability. Free street parking is available near the start location.
