DESCRIPTION:November 16\, 1:00 – 2:30 pm in the Sanctuary. We can all agree that having a religious tradition has many upsides: being a part of a community\, having a belief in something bigger than yourself\, participating in meaningful traditions\, and having a set of values all serve to give life meaning. But when a person\, a community\, or a set of doctrine associated with that religion causes harm\, the harm cuts deeply into our sense of ourselves\, our sense of belonging in the world\, and even our place in eternity. This is a topic that every person of faith should be informed about. Come join Psychologist Amy Nydam and Provisional Psychologist Paige Cahill for a workshop that will cover the basics of what Religious Trauma is and how it shows up individually\, interpersonally\, communally\, and existentially. Whether you have experiences of Religious Trauma personally\, know someone who has\, or just want to learn more so that you can support those around you\, you are welcome. United Church worship leaders\, including DLMs and ordered ministry\, lay worship leaders\, and worship committees\, are invited to St. David’s United Church in Leduc\, Alberta\, for facilitated experiences\, individual reflection\, and planning time.\nHosted by St. David’s United Church in Leduc\, Alberta.\nFacilitated by Rev. Leigh Sinclair\, with support from the Ministry Personnel Support Committee. \n  \nThursday\, October 10\, 2024\, 9 am – 3 pm: Come and do your worship planning for Advent 2024 in good company. \nThursday\, January 30\, 2025\, 9 am – 3 pm: Come and do your worship planning for Lent 2025 in good company. \n  \n\nWhat: A day away from normal church life to worship\, connect and plan ahead to the coming liturgical season.  All participants will leave with at least some of the worship plans for their community of faith.  A rotation of times focused on your local and particular planning\, worship experiences to explore the season’s Scriptures and hymns\, as well as idea generation in small groups.\nWho: United Church worship leaders –  in groups of 1 to 3 from your Community of Faith\, DLMs and ordered ministry\, lay worship leaders\, worship committees\nWhere:  St. David’s United in Leduc.\nCost is $35 per participant per day to attend in person\, as well as your own mileage (and accommodation if overnighting as part of travel).  $25 per participant per day to attend via Zoom.\n**If weather makes road travel scary we will move into “zoom land”.\n\nFAQ:  \nHow much time will I get to spend on planning the particulars of worship for my community of faith?\nAt least 2 hours divided into three sections throughout the day. \nWhat lectionary will be used for our planning?\nRevised Common Lectionary Year B \nWhat if I can only come to one event?\nNo worries\, they are “stand alone” so register for one or both. \n*** \nRegister for the January planning session now.
