DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, February 23 from 12:00 to 1:00 CST join an online conversation about creating “harmonious space” rather than “safe space”. Harmonious space is the condition in which diversity and inclusion truly grow. Guided by author and educator bell hooks\, who said\, “ Learning takes place in harmonious space” and “Community that allows for risk\, the risk of knowing someone outside your own boundaries is love.” We will consider harmony and risk as opposed to “safety” as the best environment suitable for diversity. \nOur special guest will be Deaconess Adrainne Gray. Adrainne was consecrated a Lutheran Diaconal Association (LDA) deaconess and ordained an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) deacon in 2017. She is currently the Director for Recruitment for the LDA with a focus on Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion and works remotely from her home in Atlanta\, GA. \nCCS Fridays are free. Our special guest will be UCC Growth Animator Greg Smith-Young. \nWithin creation\, ecosystems form as different and diverse creatures (living and non-living) interact together. Each part plays a vital role in making the whole. Ecosystems are about interdependence and integration. What can happen when we bring an “ecosystem” way of thinking into the faith formation work of congregations? DESCRIPTION:Good Friday\, March 29\, 2024\, 10 a.m. (99 Street and 107 Avenue\, Edmonton AB) \nThe 44th annual Outdoor Way of the Cross invites people to think about the relevance and importance of the Gospel message in our world today. This year’s theme\, “Journeying Home\,” is based on Isaiah 58:6-7: “Is not this the fast that I choose. . .to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless into your house.” \nThe walk will once again take place in person\, along the streets of Edmonton’s inner city. It will include six stations\, and each station will offer a reflection on an aspect of the overall theme that highlights both a challenge and a source of hope\, woven together with music. \nPeople of all faith traditions are welcome. The 1.5-kilometre walk is reasonable for most ages and levels of fitness and ability. Free street parking is available near the start location.
